Working from home with friends of DAKS: For DAKS’ final instalment of ‘At Home With’ as lock down begins to ease, DAKS have caught up with long time friend of the brand Oliver Proudlock to discuss all things style, morning routines and staying creative.

What do you wear when working from home?

From me, when working from home, comfort is important. I tend to mix it up between tracksuit sets or trousers with a loose tee. The key with all my outfits is to always accessorise with my jewellery and I always put on a pair of shoes even if I am not leaving the house, this just makes me feel like i'm ready for business.

Define your style in 3 words?

Eclectic, Comfy, Classic.

How do you incorporate your style into your home?

My fiancé and I's go to words when styling our home were comfort and contrast. Similar to my style, there’s a real mix of different pieces, themes and influences that make each room and corner so unique. I am big on attention to detail so I love the finishing touches and the parts in the home that people don’t pay much attention to but really pull it all together. As you can see from the images our home is styled very dark and moody which might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but that’s the thing with style, its all about channeling your inner voice and not being afraid to go with it.

Most treasured item in your wardrobe?

My gold Padlock Pendant necklace. It was the first piece of jewellery I designed for my brand Serge DeNimes, and the graphic is my family crest so it's very sentimental. The one item of clothing you think is worth investing in each season. A clean white tee.

What do you love about what you do?

Ever since I was a kid I have been obsessed with anything and everything creative so being able to work in this field and do it for living is a dream come true. Through my jewellery brand Serge DeNimes and social media platforms, not only am I able to express my own creative energy, but I get to collaborate with so many other incredibly talented creatives and brands from all corners of the world.

What’s your morning routine and how has this changed since working from home?

Mornings are the most important part of my day, a time when I get to prepare myself for the day ahead. I tend to get up between 5-6am, start the day with a workout, followed by breathwork or meditation to get me in the zone. Then before midday is when I tend to plan my meetings or take care of admin, so that in the afternoon my mind is clear to be creative in the studio. During lockdown I have tried to stick to a similar sort of routine, however I get up a little later at 7am, do a home workout session and then my meetings now take place over zoom.

5top tips to keep focused while working from home?

1) Create a nice working environment so it feels like an office area, and light a candle for ambience.
2) Exercise in the morning to release endorphins and keep your focus.
3) Always start the day with a to-do list, which you tick off as you complete each task.
4) Stay hydrated.
5) When you start to lose focus take some time out and go for a walk/fresh air.

How do you unwind/top tips to de-stress

Listen to a Desert Island Disk, an easy 30 minute timeout. Few rounds of backgammon. Cup of tea and a good book. At the end of a long day, a hot bubble bath filled with magnesium salts, so good to unwind. Some good food with a glass of red wine while watching a movie.

First place you’ll eat/visit post working from home

I can't wait to get back into the Serge DeNimes studio and reunite with my team. Everyone is doing a great job working remotely right now, but it's just not the same. Then in terms of a restaurant, I cannot wait to sit outside and have a long lunch at River Cafe with my closest friends.
