DAKS x Fox Brothers
For AW18, DAKS has incorporated some of the finest fabrics from one of the world’s most prestigious mills, Fox Brother & Co. Ltd.
Founded in 1772, Fox Flannel has adorned some of the most influential figures in popular culture and politics from Cary Grant to Winston Churchill. The Fox Flannel can be seen most prominently in our grey Julian-Tyler suit, a stand out piece from the AW18 collection.
The suit is made from 100% extra fine Merino wool, making it extremely soft and luxurious to the touch, while the intricate clean lines with the highlight of claret adds a modern update to this heritage fabric, which can be worn time, and time again.

"Fox Brothers & Co Ltd is delighted to continue to work with DAKS. We know from our archives that we worked with Simeon Simpson (DAKS founder) as early as August 1931 and it is pleasure to continue to work together nearly 90 years on. We still have samples of the swatches sent to Simeon from 1935!"

Fox Brothers is officially credited as the original creator of Flannel, and their range of Flannels has developed over the last two centuries.
These Flannels are produced from the finest ingredients, woven and milled into cloth with a fabulous fluid hand-feel. The lighter weight Flannel is woven using two-ply worsted super fine merino creating a light, soft material with superb drape. The milling process is pivotal in creating the Flannel, by beating the wool fibres to break and fuse the soft wool together. The same process has been used to create the West of England Flannel for some 250 years ago.

"When I visited the Fox Brothers mill in Somerset, I was shown an original manuscript with notes from DAKS founder, Simeon Simpson regarding his order in the 1930’s. It’s an honour to be able to reignite our partnership with a British manufacturer who shares our rich history and allows us to reimagine this collaboration by bringing the partnership into the next century"
