DAKS x CHARLIE TEASDALE
The Edit: Charlie Teasdale
We caught up with friend of the brand and Esquire UK’s Editor-at-Large, Charlie Teasdale, to create an edit of his favourite pieces from the AW24 collection. Charlie talks us through what to pick and how to style it creating the perfect guide to elevating your winter wardrobe:
This coat is ticking a lot of the ‘timeless style’ boxes. It has raglan sleeves, which means it sits soft on any shoulder, and looks especially good atop a layered look. The herringbone wool/cotton fabric is smart without being stuffy, and half-lining makes it easy-wearing, but still sturdy.
The first piece of menswear any guy should invest in is a classic navy blazer, partly for its adaptability, and partly because everyone looks good in navy. Cut from super fine wool, Daks’ navy blazer is special because it has the neat look of classic English tailoring with the soft construction of Italian tailoring. Wear it with jeans, make it a suit; whatever you want.
Double breasted tailoring can be a bit intimidating, but the key is to keep it soft and easy, and make sure you’re wearing the suit, rather than the suit wearing you. The wool/cotton fabric of this classic grey DB has a lovely texture to it, and the trousers feature a slick four-pleat, giving them an elegant, swooping shape, and the wearer that extra room and comfort in the seat.
Few British brands have a better heritage for impeccable outerwear than Daks, and this trench is a design classic. Cut from breathable silk touch cotton fabric, it’s sleek but still roomy enough to cover a suit, while the poppable collar and storm flap across the shoulders keep the elements at bay.
This jacket is the perfect thing for a trip where you’re not sure what the dress code will be. The notch lapels ultra fine wool fabric lend it a formality, while the soft construction, patch pockets and check pattern allow it to be styled more casually, too.
